Great Britain, Windsor – Castle, Ferris Wheel, and Lego

One of the main reasons why tourists travel here is Windsor castle, the summer residence of the British royal family for over 900 years. Also, it is world's second largest inhabited castle. Moreover, it is one of the most beautiful castles ever built. It was founded in the year 1078 when William the Conqueror built the predecessor of today's Windsor. Castle lands cover an area of 5 hectares. You may see here, for instance, St George's chapel, a home to 26 knights and ladies of the he Most Noble Order of the Garter. Other attractions at the castle include the tomb of Albert, the husband of Queen Victoria, or a dining hall featuring amazing ceiling paintings and carvings.

Take a walk in Great Park. However, be sure to time your visit well because the park is open to the public only for six days every year. The same goes for Semi-State Rooms. The queen accommodates her guests here. The rooms are open to the public during winter months.

Should you adore toys, be sure to see Queen Mary's Dolls‘ House situated at the castle. It is the best doll house of its kind. Built in the 1920's the house features thousands of little object hand-made by the best craftsmen and designers of the time. Don't forget to see changing guards. The castle guard was established as early as the mid-17th century. Changing guards takes place every day at around eleven am. It takes about half an hour.

Once you leave the castle compound head for Alexandra Gardens featuring massive Royal Windsor Wheel. Once ride takes 12 minutes and when you get on the top at 60 meters you get amazing vista over the entire town. Windsor Wheel has been in operation since 2006. It is very popular and over 200 thousand tourists visit it every year. There is even a premium cabin with much better comfort.

Children will certainly adore Legoland. The park covers an area of 61 hectares. You need an entire day to enjoy it thoroughly. The park includes 37 attractions (try Ninjago The Ride, Jolly Rocker, The Dragon and Mia’s Riding Adventure) and many scale models of famous buildings made of millions of these popular bricks. The park is so popular that over 2 million people visit it every year. Moreover, themed events take place at Legoland all the time so check the official website before getting there. Unfortunately, you need to prepare yourselves for long lines.
