In region of Upper Liptov , on a way across the Low Tatras through the Certovica klippe, you should stop in the picturesque village of Vysna Boca. Awaiting you is an exhibition at the Miner´s Museum that has preserved traditional village buildings and beautiful surrounding nature, possibilities of hiking in the mountains and skiing.
The village originally originated as a mining settlement, and you still find here remains of mining activity. You can even taste the Kyselka spring with water rich on iron, which flows from one of the galleries. Vyšná Boca is situated in the upper part of the Bocian Valley at the intersection of the Dumbierske Tatras and the Kralovehorske Tatras, surrounded by majestic peaks reaching over 1 700 meters above sea level.
Probably the biggest attraction here is a mining house with original original equipment, which you can take a look at in the Liptov museum exhibition. In five rooms you will see the life of a common mining family in the settlement, one of them is also devoted to the history of mining iron and gold in the surrounding hills. In the village you will find a classicistevangelicalchurch from the 18th century and many traditional wooden village buildings.
In winter there are several ski slopes, Bacova roven is the biggest ski center here. In the summer you can go for a bike or walk to the Low Tatras. After the blue mark you will reach the crossroads Bacusskeklippe, where you can connect to the ridge path of the heroes SNP. Or go yellow through the Starobocian valley to Štefánik's cottage and from here on the red to the peaks of Dumbier and Chopok.
Across Vysna Boca, there is the Zlatnica nature trail which runs between Čertovica and Nižná Boca. At 11 stops along this trail, you will learn about the history of mining, local attractions and nature. If you are looking for a simple trip with children, the nature trail is an ideal option. The village Nižná Boca is also worth a visit, and especially a visit to the Krajcov vrch observation tower which from a height of about 1,000 meters towers above the village.
