USA: Yellowstone National Park – The Land of Fire, Sulphur Steam, and Wild Nature
Old Faithful is the most famous geyser in the area. Local experts can predict
its eruption by minutes. We learn the time of the next one at the Information Center. This geyser blows up to 32-56 meters and can be conveniently seen from benches that are located at the visitor center.
After a stunning glimpse of the gusher, we continue on a short hike to the Upper Geyser Basin, just behind Old Faithful. It is a place with the highest concentration of geothermal elements. The path leads you through the fascinating area along the wooden pavements.
What you must not miss out on is the area of the famous Grand Prismatic Spring. There are several beautiful lakes like the Opal Pool, the Turquoise Pool, the Excelsior Geyser Crater and, of course, the Grand Prismatic Spring itself. Unlike other lakes, its edges are painted in deep orange color, contrasting beautifully with several shades of crystal clear water inside. A gorgeous view of the famous geyser from the hill comes from Grand Prismatic Spring Overlook.
West Thumb Geyser Basin is yet another geyser area. The trail of the same name leads us in unique nature. There are plenty of beautiful lakes. Imagine what is happening underground during high activity in the area. It is scary how great the power of nature is.
It is hard to believe that we are standing on the top of the supervolcano, and it is probably the largest volcano in the world. Scientists are constantly monitoring everything, and occasionally there is information in various conspiracy media that the volcano should explode explode. The eruption occurs every 600,000 years. And the last explosion was 640,000 years ago. But according to scientists, we may remain calm.
Our tour in NP Yellowstone ends at the northern exit in the Mammooth Hot Spring. These are the unique cascades and terraces created by local volcanic activity. From the car park you can reach the cascades and ponds along the wooden walkways. Terraces are mostly colored in white, but due to bacteria and algae, some terraces are mostly yellow, brown or green.
Yellowstone National Park belongs to the top of natural jewels that can be found on planet Earth. Wildlife combined with unique fauna and flora and devastating force underground makes this park one of the places you should definitely visit in your life.
