As for castles, Slovakia could be considered one of the richest countries. The new book by Dajama publishing caught our interest for its links tours to castles and active rest.
The From Castle to Castle offers several interesting tips for hikes or bike treks to the most popular castles in western Slovakia. Castles are put into pairs so you could visit them in one day.
Routes in this publication are of mild to medium difficult. However, you can make them shorter or visit just one castle of the pair. Almost any trip can be either done by walking or on a bike. It depends on your condition. Also, the trips include some tourist points of interest, you will walk across mountains, valleys, and flatlands.
Basic description of each route aside, the texts include interesting facts related to the individual castles and legends related to them. Therefore, the authors cherry-picked only the most impressive and beutiful of ruined castles which are also interesting from tourist's point of view.
The Fro Castle to Castle book aspires to be sort of a tourist guide as well. The authors intend to offer a reader a complex perspective of a castle before he even visits it. First, there is a brief description, fragments from history, the present, and concludes with a legend from castle’s vicinity. There are some contemporary illustrations, old postcards, route map, and present photographs.
The authorsDaniel Kollár and Ján Lacika walked through these routes in person. They discovered many so far undiscovered locations- perhaps you will as well.
The book includes take on classic tourism as well as facts on Slovakian history. The book also inspires you to learn more- We know that many of you like to visit Slovakian castle hoping to discover something mysterious.
