The town of Strakonice found its fame for its international bagpipe festival , fezes, or Cezetas made by Ceska Zbrojovka. Tourists often skip this city but we sincerely recommend you to see it. There is a well-preserved medieval castle, Renaissance-revival town hall or a partial Stonehenge replica. Would you like to see it with your naked eye? You are not going to make a trip there? Half-way from Plzen to Ceske Budejovice lays Strakonice on the confluence of the Otava and Volynka reviers. The town became famous for its international bagpipe festival, fezs, and “Cezetas” – motorbikes produced by Ceska Zbrojovka. Also, we can find here a preserved medieval castle, beautiful townhall in Reinassance Revival style, couple of medieval houses, or a partial Stonehenge replica. Nature around is also magnificent – Sumava’s foothills, and a vast area of South Bohemian ponds.

There is the renaissance chateau of Breznice near the mining town of Pribram. Its history is deep and rich. There are several tours for the visitors. Yet they can also take a break in the park or the zwinger garden. The café at cheau is also a nice spot to sit down and relax.

CZ: Zvikov, Royal Castle above Orlicka Dam

Zvikov castle is a symbol of the region of South Bohemia. It has guarded the confluence of the Otava and Vltava rivers since the beginning of the 13th century. Then the castle was standing on a high rock projection and guarded the wild river on the bottom of a deep canyon. Rather docile, the castle has been standing on the side of the Orlicka Dam for last 60 years.

South Bohemia is a popular and beautiful region. Cesky Krumlov is one of the most popular sites here. Yet every other village is just like it was taken from some fairy tale. A village square with gables is sort of a prototype of a classic Czech village. When you have a pond on the square then you can easily expect to see a water goblin making shoes out of willow. Holasovice is one such village. In 1998 it became a UNESCO site.
