Attention: all valuable subjects, locked in the car or left unattended on the beach or any other public spot, could be stolen! However, the number of house-breakings is increasing. Some holiday resorts noted also increased number of attacks. On the other hand, great holiday resorts, which have its private protective guard, are absolutely safe.

Taxi-service is relatively cheap and safe. Regarding traffic connection among the towns, you can use a nest of reliable and relatively cheap private forwarders.

Tourist police is always ready to help you in case of eventuel troubles. The people speak mostly Spanish as well as English, and on very good level.

The Dominican Republic punishes in very severe way the smuggling of drugs. The results are very good in this respect, and the fight against such criminality could be valuated as rather successfull.
