You find here general survey of all necessary objects and experience, necessary for ferrata tour (trek). The survey is divided according to importance and according to purpose you need the item necessary.

          1.      Inevitable subjects

 

Knowledge:

-         First aid - for mountain terrain especially.

-         Rescue works on rocks - rescue technics in rocky terrain, climbing rope technics.

-         Course of rocks climbing basic mounteneers´ technics, work with rope, processing security, climbing rope operation.

Preparation for tour:

 

-         Valid personal documents.

-         Security - rescue action, helicoptere, hospital.

-         Money.

-         Weather forecast - will be specified on spot.

-         Map - the best is 1:25 000 with marked routs.

-         Map indicating  transport possibilities into the area.

-         Tour description including variants.

-         Cellular (mobil) phone - charged batteries of the first quality, attention for enough credit source!

-         Phone numbers, SOS, weather, Inko, Embassy.

-         Watches -  alarm-clock of the best quality.

Rescue material:

 

-         Personal medicine-chest.

-         Bivak bag (sack) - protection against wind, two pieces are ideal.

-         Forehead lamp - substitutional battery and bulb, the best is LED type (Laser Emited Diode).

-         Plastic whistle.

Important accessories:

-         Multifunctional click knife.

-         Sunglasses with UV filter of highest quality, une piece as a reserve

-         Sunburning cream with UV factor 20 and more.

-         Lipstick - with UV factor 20 and more.

-         Compass - how to work with is a must!

-         Altimeter - how to work with is a must!

-         GPS - how to work with is a must!

-         PET bottle - 1, 5 l volume is recommended, better in summer.

-         Rucksack 30 l volume - for shorter trails, as an „attack“ rucksack - for ice-axes  placement.

-         Rucksack 35-45 l volume - without useless buckles and straps (this causes complications!).

-         Covering for maps - transparent, two-sided.

Dressing:

-         Anorak upper (superficial) + cape - resistable against wind and humidity, it must be sacked!

-         Trousers - permeable, resistant, partailly impermeable against humidity and wind.

-         Warm anorak (smock-frock) - warm, soft-shell, fleece 200 + wind, humidity.

-         Thermo-clothes - functioning materials (ideal long enough) + reserve.

-         Underclothes.

-         Socks + reserve - ideal is a combination of thin and thick (best are functining materials).

-         Cap, headband - wind, cold, gale!

-         Cap, scarf - against sunshine!

-         Warm gloves - warm, against cold only small move! - best are thumb-gloves!

-         Light gloves - Windstoper, quicker move! + reserve.

-         Leather gloves - against robbing (working gloves are sufficient) + reserve.

-         High boots - ideal are KEVLAR (light!) or leather boots (GORE-TEX are not necessary).

-         Trekking boots - suitable for tours - also light high boots are sufficient.

Sleeping:

-         Sleeping bag for summer - lodging in bivak, in camping place. Must be equipped with slide fasteners, file, comfort + 10 degrees.

-         Support in sleeping bag - lodging in chalet (sometimes even bed-linen sheet or light sleeping bag is sufficient).

Foods and drinks:

-         Halfpension - according to financial possibilities, it is not compulsory.

-         Cooker, fuel, calm place - gas is most suitable, petrol requires more experience.Attention: NO SPIRIT (ALCOHOL)!

-         Lighter + reserve.

-         Kitchen utensils- set of pots and pans, thermo-pot.

-         Dinner-set: spoon is sufficient.

-         Food:- decisive moment is: taste, cooking period, weight, and after an energy.

-         Drinks: mostly from snow: tea, various instant drinks. Decisive moments: taste and energy after.

Outfit:

-         Sittingbinding - putting up, comfortable, UIAA certificate.

-         Brest binding - putting up, comfortable, UIAA certificate.

-         Connecting tangle - 120 cm, flat, minimal 15m long (3 strips), UIAA certificate.

-         Mounteneer´s helmet - puting up, fixed on foreheaf, UIAA certificate.

-         Ferrata set - Y system, connection by means of binding and sewed flat  tangle.

-         Substitutional spare parts.

  1. Further useful information

Useful knowledge:

-         Good orientation in mountains

-         Rescue on glacier - rescue from cleft, cleft overcoming

-         Avalanche course (lectures).

-         Glacier course (lectures) and VHT.

-         Ski-alpinistic course (lectures).

-         Ice-climbing course (lectures).

 

Trekking preparation:

-         writing materials - best is a pencil

 

Important accessories:

-         Camera, videocamera - attention for its weight, batteries, fragility, films, memory.

-         Repairs - best is TESA - strip (ribbon), sewing accessories, pair of tongs, screw-driver.

-         Hygienic accessories - toilet paper first of all.

Dressing:

-         Cape - sometime also an umbrella sufficient, poncho, also over rucksack is to be recommended (bivak-bag)!

-         Waistcoat - warm, impermeability (air-tightenss) against wind (of front part), it is an excellent supplement!

-         Short trousere - suitable also in combination with underclothing.

Shoes (Footwear)

-         Climber´s shoes - for beginners: they are comfortable and walked –

      ATTENTION: do not buy small climber´s shoes!

-         Overboots (for chalets) - as light as possible, even thick socks are sufficient (they are mostly in chalets available).

  1. Judgement according to the situation

Rescue material:

-         Thermopacket - suitable not only for rescue operations.

-         Chemical light - easy way, how to give and hand over the information.

-         Avalanche device: proved, substitutional battery, knowledge of use.

-         Avalanche shovel - reliable, unbrokable.

-         Avalanche probe - reliable, unbrokable.

-         ABS rucksack - size according the necessity, it is a must for freeride.

Important accessories:

-         Ski-glasses - a must for blizzard, ventilated, with glasses available into fog.

-         Telescopic sticks - best are those of three parts, without ANTISHOCK.

Dressing:

-         Upper trousers - air-tightness against wind and humidity - material has to respire, and must be completely unbuttoned.

-         Warm trousers - warm.

-         Air-anorak - air-tightness against wind, material has to respire.

-         Thin trousers - air - tightness against wind, material has to respire.

-         Necktie, hood - against wind, cold, hale.

-         Upper gloves - air-tightness against wind and humidity, material has to respire.

-         Overthreadings: material must be strong and very soft, with slide fasteners and steel wire-rope!

Outfit:

-         Mounteneer´s rope.

-         HMS carabins (4-5 pieces.).

-         Express  wires (3-5 pieces).

-         Rescue loops.

-         Secure loops.

-         Further security material

-         Glacier screws - 2 pieces.

-         Ice-axe - universal, light, no aluminium beak.

-         Climbing-irons

       4.     Transport, waiting for tour (trek)

Preparation for a tour(trek)

-  Actual map

Important accessories:

-         Handy sack or bag - for excessing subjects, a box is most suitable for foodstuffs.

-         Inflated pillow - it is best in U form.

Dressing:

-         Tricot + reserve.

-         Tourist trousers.

-         Bathing-drawers.

Shoes:

-         Sport-shoes (tennis shoes), sandals.

Sleeping accessories:

-         Tent.

-         Support below tent.

-         Sleeping mattrass (Karimatka)
