Published: 8.12.2016
For we have experience with overcrowded Christmas market in Dresden or Wien, this time we decided to try some less known cities in Germany - Görlitz and Bautzen. I recommend this trip because everything will exceed your expectation. Both cities are close to the border with the Czech Republic. We started in Mlada Boleslav. It took us less than 2 hours to reach downtown Görlitz. Bautzen is only 40 minutes by car further. You can park your car there easily and the Christmas market gets crowded only in the evening.

Germany – The Hanseatic City of Bremen

Bremen and the port of Bremerhaven constitute an autonomous republic. Its official name is Free Hanseatic City of Bremen. It is the smallest and the poorest German Bundesland. Most industrial facilities which employ the inhabitants of Bremen are situated beyond the borders of the city in Sachsen-Anhalt which means that taxes paid by the inhabitants of Bremen don't go into the pocket of the city. However, people born in Bremen are proud of the fact that their city is a Bundesland and that they have some autonomy as well.
