The paths in areas of archaeological monuments could be in bad condition, so the danger of possible injuries is increasing. The transfer or keeping of even small quantities of drugs is often  punished  with long lasting prison. Provided a knife or tear-spray could be found in your pockets, this fact could be judged as non-allowed arming.

The digging with equipments is possible on base of special permission, and in some areas only. The visit of Athos Island (Agios Oros - monks´ state - is allowed only for men, older than 18 years of age, the women are forbidden to enter at all. Nevertheless, you have to ask for visit-permission in advance. You are recommended to contact Honorary Consolate of Czech Republic in Thessaloniki (Ploutarchou 8, 546 23 Thessaloniki -phone: 0030/2310 267 041, fax: 0030/2310 266 415). The interested party  sends by fax a copy of passport, announcing approximate visit date and other required information. The Consolate officer informs the applicant about confirmation accordingly. Anyway, minimally one day before supposed visiting date, the applicant is obliged to visit  personally (with his travelling document), Orthodox Church Office in Thessaloniki (phone: 2310-861 611), where the respective permission will be issued. The official visit hours are since 9,00 h till 13,00 h each working day.
