Haiti belongs to most poorest developping states. The country is suffering from political as well as civic disturbances, which could be changed into demonstrations or blockades of roads. The attacks of public buildings with non-identified aggressors were noted recently. So, we wish to recommend you to avoid all demonstrations. However, the increase of criminality, including violent attacks and robberies or kidnapping of foreigners, were noted recently. The police is badly equipped for a fight with a crime. So, in general, no safe places exist in Haiti at all.

Attention: the use of taxi-service (tap-tap) is not too safe. So, we wish to recommend you that somebody would expect you at the airport. When driving the motor vehicle, you are obliged to prove international driving licence. It would be very good to avoid all zones where high stage of criminality was noted, such as. portal road Carrefour (Boulevard La Saline), town road Nationale No. 1, the road from the airport (Boulevard Haile Selasie) as well as its communication line to Nouvelle (American) Road, via Nationale No. 1, Cite Soleil and its environs, Delmas 105 – between Delmas 95 and Rue Jacob. So, we do not recommend you to make photos (in any case) as this act could provoke violent reaction.

The capital is quite well supplied with foodstuffs. Nevertheless, some remote areas could suffer from lack of goods, The same situation is also concerning petrol supply.

We wish to recommend you: do not exit after dusk and avoid all countryside areas.

During Carnaval season, the criminality is increasing. This activity was recently misused to streets´ riots.

In case of armed robbery, we recommend you, not to offer the resistance and deliver all required subjects, in order your life could be saved.

Another warning: do not keep or transfer the drugs! If you are kept, severe punishments of years of prison are to be expected. Moreover, many days or even months would take if your case would receive and judged with the court.
