Travelling by plane

All inland flights in Laos are being secured by Lao Aviation, with Vientiane, as main transfer town. In the capital, branch office enables the payments by means of credit cards, in other branches, the payment in USD only is possible to be effected. The reservation of places could be difficult as the demand highly overtops the offer. So, some flight planes are being approved only a day before departure.

Travelling by bus

Road nest in Laos in not of first-classed quality level. Main routes to the capital are covered with asphalt and are suitable for all types of motor-vehicles. Some buses are presented with wooden carriages, with the banks inside, so that, very interesting experience could be expected.

Travelling by bycicle

The drives by cycle you can do in any bigger town, if you find some rent office. However, the bicycles could be in bad technical state but for drive in town could be acceptable.

Travelling by boat (ship)

The rivers are main traffic routes in Laos. Anyway, most of traffic is concentrated to Mekong-river, Nam Ou, Nam Khan, Nam Tha, Nam Ngum and Se Don. Mekong river is the longest and most important water route, navigable all year round. However, with increase of road traffic, the personal ship transfer has rather decreasing inclination during past years. On rivers, you can meet great river ferries, personal ferries, river ferries or river taxis, used for short trips on the river.

Local transport

Taxi cars are circulating, first of all, from important airports, otherwise, you do not meet it in Laos. Moto-cycle three-wheel taxi belong to the other means of transport, appearing also in small towns.

Necessary Documents

The citizens of European Community, holders of diplomatic and service passports, do not need any entry visa, travelling to Laos. Anyway, the holders of standars passports are obliged to have the entry visas. The business as well as tourist visas are issued at Laos Embassy, Consular Section abroad, for time period of one month, whereas business visas could be prolonged. Foreign companies which invest in Laos, have the possibility to get the permit for stay for their employees for the whole time period of their stay in the country.
