This valley reservoir is situated on Moravice river, supplying Ostrava Region with a drinking water. The project of this dam was worked in accordance with water-economy plan of our republic within 1930-1932.
The pier was constructed during 1948-1955. At the beginning of dam- inflating you find – along both banks – ruins of small castles Medlice and Šternek. This dam is the second greatest waterworks-reservoir in Northern Moravia.
