Soos Nature Reservation

This nature reservation is one of most valuable localities in Czech Republic. It is situated between Iron Ore Mountains and Slavkov Forest, not far from Františkovy Lázně Spa.
Arrival, parking:
Would you drive towards Františkovy Lázně and continue in direction to the community of Vojtanov, turning aside on secondary road, following the community of Nový Drahov. So, from here you can follow the signs ahead. Your car could be parked in front of the entrance, where wide parking place is available.
History:
A peat-bog and a swamps are to be found inside the reservation. The reservation is of volcanic 
character. This phenomenon is caused with a fact that enormous quantity of mineral waters is welling up, creating pure oxyde carbonic in such way. The reservation was declared in 1964, and it has the extent of 220 ha. Moreover, this place reminds moon-countryside. It is covered with yellow and white layers of precipitated mineral salts.
Actual state:
The reservation could be proud of so called silicous shield, made from boxews of sea-weeds. Thanks to various sorts of soil, there were grown very rare plants.
Interesting point:
Inside this area, there is to be found Museum „Nature in Cheb Region“, including scientific nature station for secure of injured birds. Young nature protectors are looking after.
Recommendation:
Would you walk through this educational path. It is surrounded with tables and explanations. You get accquiantance with creation of peat-bogs and silicous layers.
