Italy: The Most Popular Ski Resorts

Published: 1.12.2019
Are you wondering which ski resort in Italy to choose for your winter holiday? We will advise you which places are one of the most popular and visited in the long term. We will also tell you why.

Livigno

Livigno is a kind of sure thing, you will experience the best skiing in Italy. The resort offers 115 km of slopes oriented to all directions. The advantage is a great ratio of red, blue and challenging black slopes. So you don't have to worry about not finding the right one for you. You can also enjoy the specialized freeride zones and snow park Mottolino. Great snow conditions are due to the high altitude until the end of April. This directly tempts to take advantage of free ski events, which are at the beginning and end of the season. You can enjoy skiing in the Alps with a free ski pass. And that's not all, Livigno is also a shopping paradise. It is the last duty-free zone in the EU, so take your wallet topped up with cash.

Val di Fiemme

It is a very popular resort, the great advantage of which is its good accessibility from the Czech Republic and excellent price to quality ratio. Val di Fiemme ranks among the absolute leaders in the modernity of transportation systems and in almost 100% coverage of high-performance snow cannons. A varied selection of perfectly groomed trails awaits you. From wide, lighter slopes to demanding black parachutes, you can find up to 17 km of the total 116 km of slopes. You will not be bored after closing the cable cars. The price of the ski pass includes public swimming pool, skating, night skiing and night tobogganing. In Val di Fiemme you will be thrilled even if you like to exchange skis for cross-country skiing. There are incredible 150 km of well-groomed trails that run all the way to the Val di Fassa.

Arabba / Marmolada

The top ski resort of Arraba / Marmolada is part of the world famous Sella Ronda circuit, which was created by the combination of Arabba / Marmolada, Val Gardena, Alta Badia and Val di Fassa. Enjoy more than 400 km of slopes. The resort itself offers 60 km of mostly demanding downhill courses with an unmistakable backdrop of the highest peak of the Dolomites, Marmoladou (3,342 m above sea level). We recommend a 12 km long red track leading from its top. Arabba also offers numerous open-air skiing opportunities and adrenaline enthusiasts can try heliski.

Val Gardena

The Val Gardena luxury resort is another of the Sella Ronda circuits. Thanks to the high quality and variety of 175 km of ski slopes, excellent ski connectivity and state-of-the-art transportation facilities, it ranks among the best resorts in the world. You will enjoy it, especially if you are among the demanding skiers. 18 km of beautiful black slopes await you, with plenty of free terrain and extreme skiing. But don't worry if you don't search for black slopes. On Plan de Gralba you will find nice blue and red trails. You can hone your first turns on the wide slopes of the Alpe di Siusi. Also fans of ski mountaineering or cross-country skiing will be thrilled. More than 100 km of white tracks are prepared in Val Gardena. The main centers of the resort are Ortisei, Santa Cristina and Selva di Gardena, where you will find luxury shops, restaurants and bars.

Val Gardena

Tonale

The resort consists of 4 ski areas - Passo Tonale, Presena Glacier, Ponte di Legno and Temú, which complement each other perfectly. The resort offers 100 km of ski slopes. In Passo Tonale you will find wide and sunny blue and red trails that will be appreciated especially by families with children. In Ponte di Legno and Temú there are more sporty red and black tracks. The last part is the Presena glacier, which thanks to its height of 3 016 m above sea level guarantees quality skiing from autumn to spring. From your winter vacation in Italy, you can also enjoy the adrenaline experience of Zip Line. In a seat hinge, you can overcome an elevation of 249 m in 4 minutes. You can dare to lower yourself, or in pairs. It is located at the bottom station of the Casola harness in Ponte di Legno. Another unforgettable experience in Tonale is the visit to the Ice Dome, where music concerts are held on ice-made instruments. This property is located in Passo Paradiso at 2,600 meters above sea level.
