Before the WWII the city was effectivelly a climatic spa. Today, the tradition has been slowly renewed. Sigmund Freud, Johann Mendel were some of the people who came here to treat their respiratory system in the beginning of the 20th century. Local spa were famous Europe-wide. Rich spa guests helped city to flourish and burgher houses are the evidence for that or the Common house or the municipal park. Tody, there is the brewery, open air museum and mostly fresh air. This is the place where you can easily put every worry aside.
The legends say that Radegast lived on the summit of Radhost since time immemoriam. He was pagan god of sun, war, and victory. Today, Radhost, a 1192 meter mountain, still remains a place of pilgrimage. There is a beautiful church on its top. This and the vista are sure worth the hike.
Roznov pod Radhostem, a picturesque town is one of these places you fall in love with instantly. And if not instantly than sooner than later. Between the 18th century and the WWII it was a climatic spa. It slowly returns to this tradition in the present.
The small Moravian-Silesian town of Frenštát pod Radhoštěm is not a metropolis, but it still attracts tourists from all over the Czech Republic. It serves as a great starting point for the surrounding mountains. After all, it lies in the very heart of the Moravian-Silesian Beskydy Mountains, right next to the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area. A great program is taken care of throughout the year. Whether it's hiking and cycling - both are widely run here from spring to autumn, or great winter sports in the form of many slopes and cross-country trails. The railway also leads to Frenštát pod Radhoštěm, so even without a car you can get here comfortably.
It is called the Hradcany of Ostrava. The steelworks really look like a huge castle. At the end of the last century, iron molting operation was stopped here. However, fortunately large share of the unique industrical complex was safed for the future generations. Let's take a short trip with us to the steel heart of Ostrava.
Let's say goodbye to winter today. Most of the famous Beskydy trips lead to the top of the mountains, not only families with children but will appreciate the beautiful educational circuit through a picturesque landscape of pastures, forests and scattered mountain settlements. In addition, part of the journey is lined with colorful pictures intended mainly for children.
Today we wander into the Hostýnské vrchy nature park, specifically into the surroundings of the picturesque village of Rusavy. The Pardus peak is located right here and rises to a height of 672 m above sea level, offers wonderful views of the surrounding area and is simply a popular lookout peak in the central part of the Hostýn Mountains.
A little and at first to notice village in the Beskydy has become increasingly popular among holidaymakers from the Ostrava region and elsewhere. Beautiful nature and easy accessibility motivates people to travel there.
Not so long ago, when a tourist got into Ostrava it was rather a coincidence. Mining and heavy industry was what the city lived of. One was afraid to roam in some district even during daylight. However, the city lives with culture today, there are many interesting sights, and growing number of young people who start new ambitious projects.
The region of Bruntal is a quite remote part of the region of Moravia-Silesia. It is situated between the Hruby and Nizky Jesenik mountain ranges. Allegedly, the region of Bruntal is harsh. The inhabitants like to make jokes of themselves by talking about local toothy frogs – a jest of sorts. Don´t worry, however. Come here for there are beautiful places worthy exploring.
