Lužické Mountains

Lužické Mountains is a small border mountain-range in North Bohemia, situated between towns of Děčín and Liberec. The highest point is Luž (793 m), the other tops are Jedlová, Klíč and Studenec. Since 1976 are declared Lužické Mountains as Protected Natural Area.

Mountain range forms the frontier between Poland, Germany and Czech Republic, nedarly half of territory is formed by forests.

Hvozd hill

Hvozd is one of most important hills in Lužické Mountains . It is outstanding, two-peaks range situated in an altitude of 750 m of sea level on border with Germany, in distance of 1,5 kms of eastern direction from the community of Krompach.

Spravedlnost

Spravedlnost is afforested basaltic hill (533 m), situated between communities of Chřibská and Doubice. On its top, as well as at slopes, there are to be found basaltic rocks with improved column separation. In forest overgrown, we can find some interesting plants.

Klíč

Klíč Hill (760 m) is the fourth highest point of Lužické Mountains. It is outstanding cone placed in 2 kms direction of the town of Nový Bor and forms a natural dominanta of this glassworkers´ town of North Bohemia. Nearly half northern part of this countryside is covered by forested hills of Lužické Mountains.

Ice cave Naděje (Hope)

The ice-cave "Naděje" (Hope) has its extention of 0,3 ha. its entrance is placed in an altitude of 580 m above sea level. It is cracked, pseudo-karst cave in ruins-field. You find it in north-west direction of community of Hamry.

Jezevčí vrch (Badger's hill)

This hill (665 m) has the extention of 80 ha. It is a conical hill situated 5 kms in north-western direction of Jablonné v Podještědí in Liberec Region.

Bílé kameny - White stones

White Stones - or Elephant Stones (385-410 m) of extention of 0,58 ha – are a group of 20 m high rocks, distant 1km in northern direction of community of Jitrava, at slope of Vysoká Hill.

Lužické hory

Lužické Mountains are small, a little forgotten mountain range in north of Bohemian basin. Its height is not enormous, there are no ski resorts, but these mountains are very interesting in summer, in spring as well as in autumn are full of various colours.

Jiřetín pod Jedlovou and Horní Podluží

Along the road leading from the town of Varnsdorf to Děčín, there are situated the communities of Jiřetín pod Jedlovou and Horní Podluží. The first notice about Horní Podluží comes from 11th century. In 14th century there became a big development of agriculture.

Luž
