Šumava (Bohemian Forest)

Bohemian Forest is one of the oldest mountain range of Europa. It is a biggest Natural Park in Czech Republic (69 030 ha). Bohemian Forest is situated on the Border of Czech Republic with Germany and Austria. It is formed by rocks of Primary mountains origin. As Natural Park it was declared in 1991. There are many monuments here. The tourists have choice for spending of nice holidays as in winter as in summer. The highest point of Šumava names Plechý (1378 m).

Laka lake
With its extention (2,78 ha) it is the smallest lake of glacier origin in this range. Anyway, it has the biggest collection area of water, collectioning from the space of 1346 square kilometres. The lake has a rectangular form. It is watered by two brooks and drained by a brook, flowing to Křemelná. The biggest depth of water is here 3,9 m. The characteristic sign for Laka lake are swimming peat-bog´s islands, being in movement all the time. In the outskirts of a lake, you find quiet forest solitude.
You reach the lake along blue tourist marked sign from parking place in Nová Hůrka. Thie route is 5,5 kms long. Anyway, the longer alternative is a way from Železná Ruda along green tourist sign, after 1 km, along red tourist marked sign, this route is approx. 15 long.
