Boubín virgin forest
Locality type:
Educational path
Place:
Prachatice district

This circular path leads along virgin forest periphery. Our walking starts at Boubín Lake. The route leads us through Boubin Virgin Forest National Nature Reservation. Nevertheless, it does not lead through, but around fencing only. This limitation had to be effected from the reason that  many visitors came here throughout the year, and virgin forest environment was influenced in negative way. So, central part od forest was closed in 1970. The fencing part has the extent of 47 ha. On the route, you follow 9 stops, where there are placed information tables. You find here more detailed information regarding Boubín Lake and Boubín history in general (the foundation and development of virgin forest). Boubín Lake could be reached from Lenora or Horní Vltavice on foot, by car or by cycle. Your bikes could be locked at information centre, so you can walk through forest comfortably. So, when you are in Bohemia Forest, you can make an excursion into virgin forest.
