Šumava (Bohemian Forest)

Bohemian Forest is one of the oldest mountain range of Europa. It is a biggest Natural Park in Czech Republic (69 030 ha). Bohemian Forest is situated on the Border of Czech Republic with Germany and Austria. It is formed by rocks of Primary mountains origin. As Natural Park it was declared in 1991. There are many monuments here. The tourists have choice for spending of nice holidays as in winter as in summer. The highest point of Šumava names Plechý (1378 m).

Libin is a Mountain, 1096 metres high, about 4 kms distant from the town of Prachatice. It is the highest point of Bohemia Forest Hills, forming an expressive, from far visible dominante above Prachatice. Nature mountain wreckage forest is protected in Libin Nature Reservatio

Look out tower
On the top, there is placed 27 metres high look out tower, cottage and telecommunication tower. At very good visible conditions, you can even see Alps Mountains.
History:
In 1880, there was founded Bohemia Forest Club, formed mainly by Germans, living in the town of Prachatice and outskirts. So, in January 1881, there was decided that look out tower would be constructed. Architect Vyskocil took the project. Nevertheless, the necessary amount was succeded to be collected from several sources (from member´s contributions up to gifts presented by rich well-wishers).
After two years of building works, the look out tower was solemny, on 16th September 1883. open for public.
