Slanské Hills are placed in East Slovakia, in regions of Košice and  Prešov, in Košice-environs, Prešov, Trebišov and Vranov nad Toplou districts.

Extent:

537 square kilometres

The highest hill:

Šimonka - 1092 metres above sea level

Short characteristics:

Slanské Hills belongs into Matra-Slanske area. This volcanic hilly range forms a part of Carpathian volcanic arch. Moderately warm, and rather cold climatic area (in higher levels) predominates there.

The vegetace is represented there mostly with beech-woods and oaks. You can find here also original forests of virgin forest character, and small influence of a man (Šimonla, Oblík).
