Volovské Hills are situated in East Slovakia, in Košice Region, in Rožňava, Gelnica, Košice-environs and Spišská Nová Ves districts.

1342 square kilometres

The highest hill:

Zlaty stol (Golden table) – 1322 metres above sea level

Short characteristics:

Mountain range of Volovské Hills belongs to granute belt of Slovak Ore Mountains.

Predominant part of these hills is fully afforested, mainly with pine-trees and fir-trees. Beech -wood and oak copses are bound with south corners of this hilly range. Since Middle Age time period, gold, silver, copper mercury and iron ores were excavated in these hills.
