Niedere Tauern is a vast mountain range in central Austria. It is part of the Eastern Alps which is a part of the Central Alps. This particular mountain range is diversed to four subparts - Seckauer Tauern, Rottenmanner Tauern a Wölzer Tauern, Schladminger Tauern and Radstädter Tauern. The highest mountain in the Niedere Tauern is Hochgolling (2 862 meters). Like neighboring Hohe Tauern it is also made of transformed rock (crystalline slate, granite). In the Niedere Tauern, there are many tourist trails. Every alpine hiking enthusiast will like it there, there are many options what to do. Whether you are fond of easy hikes through deep valleys, climbing mountains, or going across mountain ridges – you can do it all here and also enjoy local beauty of nature.
