CZ, Benešov: Not Only Junction, But Also A Piece Of History - VIDEO

Important business and transportation junction, a modern and dynamic city, but also a place full of history - this is Benešov, from Prague distant less than fifty kilometres.
Benešov, respectively Benešov rail station must know every good tourist who has ever travelled by train to the south of the country. But just a very few people know that the local station building is one of the gems. On your link there in a special lounge waited to be Franz Ferdinand d'Este or Emperor Franz Josef I. Today there crowds of people promenade – most of those, who use advantageous and about forty minutes long connection Benešov with the capital. Benešov knows also everyone who has ever visited Konopiště castle, actually still standing in the city land.
Karlov - where landmarks keep together
Due to Konopiště castle people unjustly forgot the equally interesting town centre. Magic is part of the city called Karlov in the autumn morning sun. The same name has the hill on which stands the church of St. Nicholas, parish, two belfries, cemetery and currently also nursery school that wants to wants, give this place life. Here around in 1219 was began to write a history of Benešov, in that time still expanding settlements around the manor with the church.
On school grounds is possible to see many things. Remains of the monastery but you can found only in Benešov. Right in front of Benešov elementary school, a former elementary girl´s school, is a bit unnatural torso sticking Franciscan monastery, another unmistakable traces the lives of our ancestors, namely Prague Bishop Tobiáš of Benešov, who had to leave built a monastery. Around the place, which in 1420 finally fired Jan Žižka of Trocnov when crosses with group to Prague, now is peace - mentioned school, gallery, park, restaurants and a sports centre.
Bell tower, which is just a few meters from the monastery, may confuse its relatively boring appearance, even if it is carefully fixed. Simple form in itself, but conceals the second oldest bell in the country. Bell maker Rudger made it in 1322. After nearly a century the same bell was discovered during excavations in the ruins of the burned monastery.
Life in Benešov
On the Masaryk square, Benešov main boulevard, you can entre, among other things, by a gate adorned with eight-pointed gold star embedded in the blue field of the round, which casts its shadow on the facade of the neighbouring building. Original character of Šternberk genus, city simply adopted as its own, so today is kind of his successor.
During a weekday Benešov is like any good city, full of life. The greatest dominant of square is the church of St. Anna, whose ledge above the main entrance, happily pigeons occupy, despite obvious efforts to rid the town hall. To the temple glued Piarist college but was there earlier than the church itself.
The Central Bohemian Region abounds in a number of interesting and beautiful places. One of them is the village of Soběhrdy, where a unique family park with animals and attractions is located.
Who doesn't know the Mole? This animated character is celebrating success around the world. Its author is Zdeněk Miler, who was born in the largest city in the Central Bohemian Region, in Kladno. This artist, director of animated films and illustrator of children's books created perhaps the most famous Czech fairy-tale character.
Today we set out for the Sázava River, which is considered the Golden River. Not only the color of the water but also the fact connected with gold mining in Jílové u Prahy contributed to this name.
The castle dubbed often Hlaska thanks to its preserved tower, sits above the Senohraby outdoor swimming pool. Its founding dates back to the end of the 13th century. It used to be a residence of the Lords of Zlenice, an important noble family in the Sazava region.
The village near Vlasim came to the public thanks to the fact that it is adjacent to the famous village of Jankov, where an important battle of European significance took place. The fates of the villages are not only in history. Today, they are connected by two nature trails that will give you a closer look at the Battle of Jankov. The 3 km circular trail leads from the Ratmerice village square with the comic story of the local farmer Ones and we follow his trail.
For the next few weeks will guide you through the micro-region located between Prague and the Sázava River. A total of 24 municipalities joined in 2000 to create a fairy-tale area whose name is named after one of the greatest personalities of Czech culture - the painter and writer Josef Lada.
Today we will take you to a fabulous region surrounded by picturesque nature. More precisely, to a village where water sprites, ghosts and all kinds of animals that even speak live. Our goal will be the village Hrusice, located less than 40 kilometers from the historic center of Prague.
We have already visited Kamenice in Central Bohemia. It was on the occasion of a visit to Stirin Chateau. There are however two chateaus in Kamenice. The other has the same name as the town – Kamenice.
Last week we visited the beautiful town of Velké Popovice, just a few kilometers southeast of Prague, where we learned not only history but also local monuments and natural scenery. Welcome at Cesky Sternberk castle. It is one of the most beautiful of medieval places in the Czech Republic. It name suggests to which family the castle is related to.
A small village 50 kilometers of Prague surprises anyone who does not know a thing about it. On a small area in beautiful landscape near Benesov you might find right two chateaus – the new one and the old one.
The most visiting is one that is closer to Prague. This is true about every castle and chateau. Konopiště is one of the places, for which Praguer´s have a passion. Landscape, known from the film Little Village, in which Rudolf Hrušínský as doctor enjoyed a fairytale land, is breathtaking. Really. Also villages that fit into it, they can mesmerize his appearance, but also which way people live there. One such village is Neveklov.
If you take one of famous images from painter and writer Lada and walk around Hrusice, you would recognize it only in hints. Although the reality of everyday life looks somewhat different from precise pictures, Lada´s sensitive and wonderland soul lives in a Hrusice till now. No doubt about it.
Štiřín, part of Kamenice, is the village situated close to the much better-known Velké Popovice, famous for its beer Velkopopovický kozel. But even in Štiřín it is possible to have a good local beer. Brewers in a family atmosphere of Štiřínská stodola (barn) recently started with producing of their own beer called Magnát.
Those who does not want to live in Prague but does not want to be too far away from Prague usually choose Ricany. Well, Ricany are not only a synonym for an ideal address off Prague. The city offers many things. It is a place connected to history and tradition.
The youngest of the three opened drift is opened near Jilove. It runs below a hill of the same name. Its most beautiful part dating back to the Middle-Ages waits for you at the end.
In Benesovsko district in the Region of Central Bohemia, a new observation tower was opened this year. It is a wooden reel and its name is derived from it. A reel is also a synonym for the interconnection of 21 towns within the CHOPOS microregion. CHOPOS initiated the construction. While going to visit the observation tower, you can learn something about the world of birds.
As the name implies, it is the ruin of Kostelec nad Sazavou castle. The ruins are visible from Hradecice hill, in Cizov u Tynce nad Sazavou natural reservation. After 300 meters of hike a beautiful view to the valley and the Sazava river opens to you.
This community, located along left as well as right bank of Sázava-river, with many weirs and old mills, is 35 kilometres distant from capital Prague amd 10 kilometres from Benešov, district town. The word „Týnec“ was derived from the expression "zatýněný" – i.e. fortificated locality.
