Pec pod Sněžkou
Czech Republic, has 1602m of height, and is situated on border with Poland. The town, together with neighbouring community of Velká Úpa, is situated in Giant Mountains National Park.
The name of town comes from 16th-19th century (the arsenic and copper-iron ore were mined here and the ovens for their melting were constructed here). After 1st World War the town became more popular as tourist centre. In 1948-1950 the wire-rope railway Pec-Růžová hora-Sněžka was built, afterthat followed the construction of descend routes and towages.
Pec pod Sněžkou is situated in the eastern part of Giant Mountains and functions as its natural centre.
You find it in Trutnov District, Region of Hradec Králové. The town offers several accommodation and refreshment possibilities, rope-railways, gambling-houses, swimming pools, fitness centres, solaria-centres, instructive paths, possibilities of cyclotouristic, walking touring, you can use also a rent of mountain bikey.
In winter the offer is enlarged of snowpark, ski-loan-offices (rent) as well as its repairs, ski-schools, ski-taxi, Krkonošská ski-run-route and ski-descend lines (Ski Pec pod Sněžkou, Ski area Portášky) .
Anyway, the offer of services is during spring and autumn (low saison) rather limited.
