CZ, Turnov: Heart And Jewel Of The Czech Paradise – VIDEO
We were clearly headed to Turnov, city, which are referred as the heart of Bohemian Paradise. Local people say with modesty that there is not much of anything interesting, and that rather than the city itself, it's around, what attracts tourists there. But they live in Turnov, like it a give soul. But perhaps precisely because they spend there most of life, ignore sites that regularly pass on the way to work, shopping, but mainly home. The old building became part of their lives and a part of themselves. But if you put the truth to Turnov people and visit cities missed out on a lot of interesting things you came from.
Absolutely the hugest building is the Gothic Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary surrounded by carefully maintained the city cemetery. Cardinality of blackish building that rise up to three floors, symbolizes the power of the then Roman Catholic faith. For Turnov Christians have served since 1853 in the old continent, this "giant" with unfinished tower that still stands high above the others, holds a privileged position as one of the first neo Gothic churches.
No town hall, but the Art Nouveau building of urban societies, is that which you at first square Turnov "bashing" in the eye. Next to it, respectively, across the square, city hall acts as a poor relative, although it is built in the same style. Building societies but is relatively new. The square of the Bohemian Paradise is only since 1906, so while the Antipodes or America would have been acclaimed for its agedness as a cultural landmark for us with a rich history of Bohemia, again a value does not - at least the historical. The nominal value of building societies is probably not the place to argue. Depending on how good looks can easily conclude as to what was then the local population.
Wealth of Turnov
Turnov people have always been associated with the production of jewelry, art specifically appropriated to produce Czech garnet - deep red stone, stone cutting Turnov who gained fame in the early 18th century. With the precious stone, that you can find under Kozákov - the highest peak of the Bohemian Paradise, but that they could no longer local in prehistoric times. They show that findings from that period. Also, Charles IV., Who had jasper decorate their chapel, is said to be looking just in Giant Mountains. Today, this branch has its followers - Secondary school students. Building with a new facade, a former professional school for processing metals and stones, today calls "šperkárna" (jewelry school). In the fixed woody cottage that also serves as a museum of glass, it is possible to look directly under the experienced hand jewelers and about the arts learn much more.
Jewish part and Synagogue
While in ancient times, long before the time of World War II, every city of the Jews, and distanced itself from the normal life in the city's bars and separating the different rules for life, councilors, who would the old Jewish quarter, did not want to "sell" to tourists, doesn’t exist probably. Also in Turnov you can see the former Jewish city part quarter with a synagogue. Turnov synagogue as only one in the region withstands the Nazi occupation. It is discreetly hidden in the street, except that it is narrower, not really deviate from the standard remaining buildings of the historic town centre.
"Turnouské Namko"
On the border of the Bohemian Paradise and Jested-kozákov back-talking, people speak Czech, of course. How else would also be speaking in Czech paradise that! But attentive listeners never miss certain nuances. Maybe the letter "v" in pronunciation local people turns into a subtle, but quite funny "u. So Turnov in the "turnou" or word rovný (flat) to "rouný. When you then the best ice cream in the city to pull to “námko” (náměstí = square), know that a huge portion of vanilla mixed with strawberry pulp, you get the on the square, respectively not far from it, opposite the Church of Francis of Assisi.
