Havířov
In historical sources the first notices about the town are of 1305. The town was established, thanks to the industrial development after the 2ns World War. It was necessary to secure the lodging for the employees of mines and forges and the construction of seats started.
In 1955 Havířov became a town from the administrative point of view. The town has the best quality of lodging especially thanks to the purpose to which was formed.
The Monuments of Havířov: In 18th century the Baroque castle with a garden was built, which was , after a fire in 19th century, rebuilt to empire (classical) style. In 19th century finished to serve as a castle and was used as an administrative building, now as a luxury hotel open to public.
As to popular buildings: one of the oldest it is carpentered Kotul wooden house. It was constructed in 1781. You find there the exposition about the way of life in 19th and beginning of 20th century.
In years 1305-1355 there was erected late Baroque church of St. Margaret, and in 1841-1845 late empire (classical) church of St.Anna. The Cultural House of Peter Bezruč, forming part of protected zone Solera, was built in 1961.
At present it is a seat of cultural centre and minigallery. Into this Solera Zone belongs also a renaissance cinema Radost (Pleasure) and in this spot obtained Havířov its foundation deed.
The Monument of Životice tragedy from a sculptor František Swidera is of 1949. It reminds the murdering of 36 people after a skirmish between partisans and gestapo in local pub on 6th August 1944.
In 1992 there were declared – as a natural preserved areas- the turnings of river Lučina and moisture places.
The town flows through the current of Sušanka. There are the ponds and the inundated mining areas.
