The Šumava National Park begins with this border town that has a history of lumbering. The surrounding of this town is mostly hills and mountains and Stožec is the highest of them (1065 m n. m.). Once there was a castle that didn’t survive until present. A railroad (since 1910) and the River Studená Vltava cross the town.

Kvilda is a small alpine town with an old history of gold placer mining crossed by the Golden route, a trading route. Today it is a busy and popular tourist center, it is an area of marshlands, mixed forests and neighboring towns that together create an area known as Kvildsko. It is a region at 1000 meters above the sea level with a calm climate and despite this fact you can find here many rare plants.

Kleť Look Out Tower

Kleť (1084 m above sea level) is the highest point of Blanský les (Blansky Forest). Stone look out tower is erecting on its top. It is the oldest building of such type in Czech Republic. The unique circle view is to be offered, under favourable weather conditions. In autumn, when the air is transparent, you can even catch a glimpse of Alp peaks, sometimes covered with snow.

Bechyně

The town of Bechyně is situated in South Bohemia along Lužnice-river. It has nearly 6000 inhabitants, and it is known as a spa. Its ceramic production is popular as well. Historical nucleus of town is very well preserved, and, since 1990, it presents one of most valuable monument zones in Bohemia.

Červená Lhota

Before, when the castle was constructed, there was located a fortress on place of today´s Červená Lhota. However, we do not know details about its owners. In 1530, the building bought Jan Kaba of Rybnany and stayed here together with his brother Wenceslas. Their dominion was prosperous later, so, they decided to rebuild it into more comfortable seat.

Třeboň

Tábor

Along Lužnice river, in South Bohemian Region, there is situated the town of Tábor. It is the second greatest town of this region. Tábor is an important tourist centre, its historical nucleus is declared as a monumental zone. Tábor is divided into 15 quarters, 36 000 inhabitants are living here. The town is important especially thanks to Hussite Movement and is known as railway junction also.

The town of Hluboká nad Vltavou (4500 inhabitants) is situated north of České Budějovice on left bank of Vltava river. It was founded in the middle of 13th century by Přemysl Otakar II. Originally community, named Podhrad, was in 1496 raised to small town.

In a south direction there is the Protected Natural Area of Blanský les.The name of the town is derived from the community of Budivojovice.
