Červená Lhota
This operation was effected by Hons Vlach. He created, from originally Gothical stronghold, a castle with four wings, situated around square courtyard. In the second half of 16th century, the castle was struck by some epidemy, maybe plague, who knows? Anyway, as a consequence of this event, many members of Kaba parentage died. In 1597, the castle was sold to William Rut of Dírna (he belonged to important men of the region). He let to arrange the castle in late Renaissance style and added several villages and small town of Deštná to his dominion.
After White Hill Battle period, the castle was popular place for Anton Bruccio, Emperor´s captain of the cavalry. He besieged forcibly the castle, but later he obtained it officially by means of law-court decision. As a new owner, he started to partcipate in an important way on its future face. Instead of old wooden bridge, he let to construct new stone bridge with three arches. However, Bruccio died, and did not left any inheritor.
So, the castle was handed over, after his death, to the King´s Chamber. In 1639, William Slavata of Chlum and Kosumberk, bought the castle. He let to build a gate with early Baroque portal and doors with artistic made mounting. Later, he let to arrange the courtyard, and entrance tower was provided with Baroque cupola, tower-clock and a gallery. So, the castle got its characteristic brick-red face in a moment, when its roof obtained red-baked tiles. Despite this fact, that the castle undergone radical arrangement in Baroque style, including interior spaces and rooms, Slavata Parentage did not lived in Červená Lhota, the castle was used more as their summer-seat.
In 1693, the castle obtained new owner, Windischgratz Family, however, within their stay here, the dominion came into decline successively. A change came in 1840, when the arrangements of Neo-gothic style were effected, later the similar changes were made also in interiors. At the beginning of 20th century, Neo-Renaissance arrangements were made.
After 1945, the castle was confiscated, however, Red Army stole a part of rare furniture from here. In 1949, Červená Lhota castle was open for public.
