Rožnov pod Radhoštěm
Rožnov pod Radhoštěm is known thanks to its wooden small town in an area of Walachian Natural Museum.
In 1820 there was founded by Josef Drobník medical institution. At first, the medical treatment was made by means of sheep´s whey and terrain walks, successively came the baths and electro-cure.The spa served to the treatments of respiratory organism and heart.
On beginning of 20th century the spa went through big boom, during summer saison Rožnov visited by 3000 patients of all over the world. On local colonnade walked so important personalities as – for instance - a founder of psycho-analyse Sigmund Freud or founder of genetics Gregor Johann Mendel.
However, after 2nd World War, the operation was not renewed . Now, the spa is reminded by Cure House placed in Town´s Park. In past, there was extended weaving in the area. In 1687 it was founded paper-factory and since 1712 the beer-brewing was started. After 1945, Tesla-factory was created and number of inhabitants increased since this time. Now, in a place live 20000 inhabitants.
To most attractive places in a town belongs, no doubt, the Walachian Natural Museum. We find here the collections to people´s cuktural history or genealogical card-register of parentages coming from Walachia Region. So called wooden small town forms the oldest section of museum , open to public since 1925. Each year are taken place verious festivals and cultural events – approvals of old domestic works or people´s art.
There are available several cyclo-routes of various difficulty-stages for bicycle lovers, offering pleasant views around surroundings. For foot-walkers, there are at disposal many signed touring routes in an altitude from 350 up to 1150 m. You can do many moto-touring excursions from Rožnov as well.
