Lookout tower
Jablonec nad Nisou
This look out tower is a construction 26 metres high, made from 3 tonnes heavy granite freestones. Its walls are 1,6 meters wide (at bottom), and 91 stages lead to its top. From four tower-galleries, you can enjoy nice circuit view towards Jablonec, Liberec, the whole Ještěd-Kozákov Mountain Range, some parts of Jizerské Mountains as well as Giant Mountains, and further, also towards Bohemian Paradise, including Trosky Castle, and Bezděz and Ralsko Castles.
Černá Studnice (Black Well)
Černá Studnice (869,1 metres above sea level) is the highest peak of Černostudničný Range of Jizerské Mountains. It is a countryside dominante, from Jablonec nad Nisou 5 kms distant. Since 1905, there is to be found here, on its top, tourist cottage and look out tower.
History:
Rock on moutain´s top was arranged for view-point, just in 1885, when German Mountain Club from Liberec secured two rocks with platform and railings. This action was first one for this club, as mentioned above. Nevertheless, there was necessary to construct more representative building, so a competition was organized, and Robert Hemmrich, architect won the first place. Anyway, builder Corazza was charged with this task. Last but not least, the obstacle, (there was the estate ownership), was overcome. So, the look out tower was solemny open for public on 14th August 1905. This ceremony participated nearly 6 thousand of people.
