As to the greatness, it is the second bigger region of the country. It is a region of forests, meadows, ponds, peatbogs, mountaneous range of Šumava (Bohemian Forest) and Novohradské hory (Novohradské Mountains) The biggest protected area is those of Šumava National Park.

Kleť Look Out Tower

Kleť (1084 m above sea level) is the highest point of Blanský les (Blansky Forest). Stone look out tower is erecting on its top. It is the oldest building of such type in Czech Republic. The unique circle view is to be offered, under favourable weather conditions. In autumn, when the air is transparent, you can even catch a glimpse of Alp peaks, sometimes covered with snow.

Příběnice castle

Pond Svět

Pond Svět is situated at south edge of the town of Třeboň. This pond is the tenth greatest pond in South Bohemia region and the fourteenth one in Czech Republic, as far as largeness is concerned.

Landštej castle

The ruin of Landštejn castle is most extensive and most preserved ruin of Romanesque castle in Bohemia. The castle was constructed on granite hill in an altitude of 665 m above sea level, 10 kms distant in eastern direction of the town of Nová Bystřice, not far from the point where meet borders of Bohemia, Moravia and Austria.

Soběslav

Soběslav is a town in South Bohemia, situated along confluence of Lužnice-river with Černovický-brook, 7 kms distant in north direction from Veselí nad Lužnicí and 18 kms in south direction from Tábor. Now, it has 7300 inhabitants approx. On its southwest edge of town, you find open airport for internal flights.

Bechyně

The town of Bechyně is situated in South Bohemia along Lužnice-river. It has nearly 6000 inhabitants, and it is known as a spa. Its ceramic production is popular as well. Historical nucleus of town is very well preserved, and, since 1990, it presents one of most valuable monument zones in Bohemia.

Červená Lhota

Before, when the castle was constructed, there was located a fortress on place of today´s Červená Lhota. However, we do not know details about its owners. In 1530, the building bought Jan Kaba of Rybnany and stayed here together with his brother Wenceslas. Their dominion was prosperous later, so, they decided to rebuild it into more comfortable seat.
