River description:
The navigability of Lomnice-river depends on heavy rains or letting out of ponds in the surrounding, and this is not effected every autumn.The section from Mirotice requires more water and navigable during snow-thaw and after heavy rains. For orientation serves water-index in Dolní Ostrovec. you can take the figure relating to 75 cm as suitable. The section from Mirotice to Ostrovec is used mostly.
Lomnice river flows from Brdy Hills, where springs at Třemšín Hill in an altitude of 733 m of sea level. It flows mostly to the east and mouths into Otava river in Orlík-Dam. The river-basin has the surface of 831 km2. In its upper part the river flows through meadows and open countryside, where there are several ponds, from Mirotice the valley becomes more narrow, there are more forests around and the slope is higher. The river-bed is wide of 8-10 m, it is stony with many rapids. You can continue under lower water-level up to Orlík-Dam, its swelling up reaches mouth of Skalice river. On upper as well as middle part you can meet overgrown palces. The weirs are mostly navigable, it is recommended to investigate the actual situation at first.
