On the left bank of the river Zittau, approximately 7 km from the district town of Nové Zámky, is one of the largest villages in Slovakia - Dvory nad Zitavou. Its neighbours are the already mentioned Nové Zámky, Bešeňov, Branovo, Semerovo, Dubník, Bajč and Pribeta.

In the northern part of the Galanta district, on the left bank of the Váh River, lies the village of Šintava. Its immediate neighbour is the town of Sereď and the municipalities of Vinohrady nad Váh, Pusté sady, Pata, Šoporňa, Váhovce and Dolná Streda.

The region of Spis boasts many historic sights as well as amazing natural wonders. In the forefront stand beloved locality- Bachledova vally, a sports resort in the south of the Spisska Magura mountain range.

The village of Lietava lies 12 km southwest of the district and regional town of Žilina, above which towers the ruins of one of the largest castles in Slovakia - Lietava Castle. This national cultural monument, together with other pottery finds in the Lietava Cave in the Farská dolina valley, proves the history of the settlement of the municipality dating back to the Middle Bronze Age (1500-700 BC).

Northeast of the seat of the Trenčín Region is Dubnica nad Vah. This town of more than 25 thousand people gained its municipal status only relatively recently, in 1960, and it is also the largest Slovak town that is not a district town, as it falls under the Ilava district.
