CZ: Rokytnice in the Orlicke Mountains - a picturesque town surrounded by wild mountain nature - VIDEO

If you are planning to make a trip to the eastern part of the Orlicke Mountains, you should definitely stop in a beautiful town at the foot of the mountains. There you will find traditional architecture and beautiful countryside.

You can also reach Rokytnice in Orlické Mountains by a romantic railway from Doudleby nad Orlici, which in our opinion belongs to one of the most beautiful tracks in the country. Most of the trips will take you through the valley of the Zdobnice River and then the Pecinsky and Silver streams. You will cross vast deciduous forest, which is home to the typical wooden houses and cottages. The journey is somewhat fairy-tale like.

What can you expect in Rokytnice itself? On T. G. Masaryk square you will see historic houses, some of which are also typical for the Orlicke Mountains. Take a look at the parish church of All Saints church and the Holy Trinity Church with the tomb. Just next to the square there is also the castle, which, unfortunately, needs restoration.

We certainly recommend visiting the Orlicke Mountains Museum situated in an interesting renovated old granary. Railroad enthusiasts will be delighted by the Doudleby - Vamberk - Rokytnice Railway Museum, military freaks should see the nearby fortress of Hanička and the infantry block R-S 72 Nizka from the fortress network built during the First Republic.

We also recommend a walk around the area, throughout Rokytnice there are scattered local traditional buildings and just behind the town begins the beautiful virgin nature of the Orlicke Mountains. Rokytnice can also serve as a base for a multi-day visit to this beautiful corner of our country.

When young Count Ervin Kinsky lost his fondness of former chateau, now called Stary Zamek, he intended to built a representative residence for the family. The construction of Novy Zamek took place between the years 1829-1833. The old Baroque-style chateau with two stories is separated from the gardens by royal road. It has remained the seat of the dominion.
