Would you like to make a trip into beautiful nature while learn something on Czech history. Go to the town of Tetin near Beroun. The legend has it that the daughter of Krok had her seat there. Also, the princess St Ludmila was murdered there.

Tetín also serves as an important place of pilgrimage, every year the pilgrims set out there on the first Sunday following September 16th. Whenever you come, you should definitely visit two local churches - the Baroque Church of St. Ludmila and the older church of St. Catherine in the Romanesque style.

Be sure to make a stop at the ruins of the local fortification, which once stood on a rock directly above the Berounka. You will also get a wonderful view of the valley both in the direction Beroun and Prague. You will also see the little church of St. John of Nepomuk, which stands on an adjacent hill.

But as we promised, beautiful nature is waiting for you around Tetín. Surely you can climb up the Damil hill. Up there a few views of the village and surrounding Český kras opens before you. Thanks to the specific climate and calcareous soil you can find some rare plant and animal species. Go through the national nature reserve of Koda, then follow the blue trail to Litina or turn the yellow trail to the village of Serbia. There you can board a prain either to Prague or back to Beroun.

In the Koda reserve, for example, there are unique cascades on the creek of the same name. Also, youn can peak into the small karst cave of Koda.

A trip to Tetín and its surroundings is one of ideal weekend destinations from Prague and Pilsen. In addition, you can continue to Český kras or to the village of Svaty Jan pod Skalou.
