Do You Know That? The Highest Building In Czech Republic
In one from our past articles, we wrote about some highest buildings or points of our republic or a capital. The same attention was dedicated to look out towers. Nevertheless, hardly anybody would forsee that really the highest construction of the Czech Republic (not taking into account TV sender of Praděd Peak, Jeseníky Mountains), could be recently terminated complex of thermic electric power station in Ledvice, North Bohemia. So, gigantic boiler-house of neighbouring electric operation is very unique one, and it is unnecessary to mention all details here. In any case, close to Iron Ore Mountains, between towns of Bílina, Duchcov and Teplice, a monument was created, higher than, for instance, Petřín look out tower as well as the highest Prague hotels. The height of 145 metres is corresponding exactly to dimensions of well-known Cheops pyramid. This North Bohemia Region has another unique thing. This is the second highest building of the Czech Republic - i.e. Komtes administrative building in Most – 96 metres high. Gigantic boiler-house of Ledvice thermal electric power station is formed with two connected complexes (blocks). Its glassed outlook will be open for public during guided tours in such remarkable work. The visitors will have the possibility to enjoy rather disconsolate view of Iron Ore coal basin, but, on the other hand, also beautiful countryside of Bohemian Highland.
Not far from here, there is to be found even the lowest point of Czech Republic - a bottom of Bílina great-quarry. If you would be interested to visit such remarkable place, it is no problem to receive detailed information in web-sites of ČEZ Ledvice Power Station Information Centre.
