France, Paris I – City of Eternal Beauty

Published: 28.5.2014
Today, our new series about one of the most beautiful, most popular, most visited cities of the world begins. Yes, it is the French capita, Paris. Together we will go on a journey of the most interesting places and we will learn about their secrets.

Paris is a huge city. More than two million people live within its historical borders. Added suburbs, there live unbelievable 12 million people. Despite the numbers, Paris keeps its unusual glamor. You will feel something that cannot be describe during any visit there. No wonder that famous writer, Victor Hugo said that Paris is “city of the cities.” He was right and we learned it by ourselves.

The capital of France is like a beautiful flower that grows gradually until fully proves its beauty. That's how we perceived our arrival to the city. First we saw a grey suburbs that later changed to a green oasis in the middle of a network of picturesque streets, and finally a beautiful flower blossom of human endeavor in the form of architectural marvels there. From its every part lurked mysterious stories and attractions. Since Paris was lucky enough to avoid devastating consequences of the second world war, it preserved the charm consequently for several centuries. And "integrity" has attracted artists, philosophers or lovers of music and literature, due to which today the city is called the city of lights. As it attracted great personalities of our history it also attracted us.

During our stay that took several days, we tried to explore and enjoy every street. We used during the various modes of transportation. One of the most emotionally powerful was sailing on the Seine. To experience Paris from the perspective of the river is like to be an ant at the beginning of the anthill. Ubiquitous, but every time different buildings, artwork, or beautiful shores of small islands. We experienced a climb on the mountain of the martyrs - Montmartre , but also a descent into the secrets of art in the Louvre Museum. We learned about Parisian boulevards , local specialties, customs and many other things that we will share with you in the coming weeks. We hope that by reading our new series to the city of romance and history, you will enjoy it as we did

To conclude our brie introduction to Paris we can tell you some picanteries. Louvre is one of the worlds largest museums. The glass pyramid which is a part of its coumpunds was built as an admiration of Egyptians and their unique ancient culture. Did you know that every French eats up to 500 snails annually? We tried it. And I have to admit that we admire them that they can do it. In every restaurant in Paris you will get a bottle of water on demand for free. Public toilets are also for free. France is thanks to Paris the most visited country in the world. Annually about 80 million people visit it. There is just one road sign in Paris, it is a stop sign (unfortunately we did not have time to prove it). Many roads and even humongous roundabouts do not have painted lanes, but it is no problem for Parisians.
