Wine Spring
The so called Wine Road opens in the beginning of spring in Lower Austria. What does it mean is what you ask? It is the time when wine roads get green, wine makes open their cellars, start with presses, and begin with wine tasting. They pull tables out to their wine gardens to let people taste new wine produce. What was pressed in fall, ripened through winter, and in spring is ready for tasting.
It is the best time for wine lowers to learn more on properties of the new wine in good, friendly company. They also may meet wine makers, and see vineyards, for instance during some event, to fill their wine stockpile at home.
By Bike Across Lower Austria
On EuroVelo 9 trail you may ride across the entire Lower Austria on EuroVelo 9 track. This way you will explore Lower Austria thoroughly. The bike trail connects the Baltic and the Adriatic seas.
From the north EuroVelo 9 track crosses Weinviertel region. You will ride through wine cellar streets, vineyards and enjoy flatland. Eventually, the trail takes you to Thermenradweg, a trail south of Vienna. This trail can get you to the forested highlands of Wienerwald.
You ride on flat road at first in the Vienna Alps, until you reach the first hills of the Bucklige Welt. The highest summits along EuroVelo 9 trail are those of the Wechsel mountain range. Bikers who put some considerable effort into riding will enjoy amazing vistas over this "paradise".

Spring is very important in Lower Austria. Croppers and farmers have worked the land for a long period of time. Their gardens are just coming back to life with the comming spring. Spring blossoms celebrate the beginning of the new season. You may spot blossoming herbs, mirabelle prunes, and soon apricot blossoms, colorful poppy fields, and thousands upon thousands of blossoming pears.

In spite of the first snowdrops and primulas, one can still do many skiing activities in Lower Austria.
The highest laid ski resort of Lower Austria, Göstling-Hochkar, offers snow during spring months. If you want to enjoy skiing with entire family than travel to the ski resorts Annaberg and Lackenhof am Ötscher, Mostviertel region. In the Vienna Alps, there are the ski resorts of Familienskiland St. Corona am Wechsel, Puchberg am Schneeberg, and Schischaukel Mönichkirchen-Mariensee. These are also great for some fun on skis with your entire family.
