There are not overcrowded pools, traffic jams or noisy air conditioning. Only beautiful mountains, crystal clear lakes, and cozy huts. Don’t hesitate no more and go with us to a one-day trek, a weekend stay, or entire summer vacation into the mountains of Lower Austria.

Much fun can be experienced in the mountains during summer. The regions of Vienna alps and Mostviertel offer peace, relax, observation places and many points of interests for tours, bike trips, and, also, great regional specialities, culture, and entertainment.

However, it is important to plan your journey. Especially, when you go into the mountains. Therefore, we present you our choices to spend unforgettable vacation in Lower Austria.
Lower Austria, (c) Niederösterreich-WerbungEvery region or area have their specifics. Mönichkirchen and St. Corona am Wechsel are not far from Vienna. They offer relax and adventure. Emerald water, great vistas, hospitality are things typical for Mostviertel region. There you will feel like at home. The greatest summit of Lower Austria is also in this region. It is called Ötscher. It is known fo its wild nature and deep canyons. Reichenau an der Rax and Payerbach are great places to start your walks to enjoy beautiful vistas or just to have a great trek.

Those of you longing to see the Milky Way and "7000 stars" should go to a trek to Ybbstalerhütte hut (near Göstling). You can enjoy such a view there. The hut sits in wild nature of Dürrenstein. It is the region with the lower levels of air pollution in Austria. There is a possibility to spend a night at 1343 meters above sea level.

To reach the hut, we recommend you to start at Lunz am See. On your way you pass by two waterfalls - 60-meter Ludwigfall and „Roaring Bull“ (Brüllenden Stier), an underground waterfall. Onthe summit of Dürrenstein at 1878 meters there is beautiful vista. However, before you reach it, you walk along mystical natural lake Obersee. From there it is really cose to Ybbstalerhütte hut. There you taste the owner's best regional specialities. And it is there where you can finish your day's journey.

People who don't like to stay overnight at great heights can take a walk to three lakes (Lunzer See – Mittersee – Obersee). Again, two waterfalls will come into your way as well as winding peat moss. Moss and peat moss create carpet which makes you do cradle walk. You can spend a night at Ferienhaus Hinterbreiteneben, Lunz. It is an old cabin surrounded by a huge meadow covered with flowers. Lunzer See is a great place for anyone who loves to bath. People who like to sail on boat or prefer emerald water before walking will also like it.
