SK, High Tatras – Alpine Clubhouse in Stary Smokovec

This unique Alpine Clubhouse has been established as a result of cooperation of Tatravia RRA, Horsky internetovy klub o.s. and the ViaTrek s.r.o. company. Its primary purpose is to promote the Tatras and the Region of the Tatras.

Ceremonial opening
On Friday May 3, 2013, the Alpine Clubhouse was ceremonially opened in Stary Smokovec . And InfoGlobe was there. Despite several people who enjoy mountains there was a group of Ukrainian tourists and also the mayor of Vysoke Tatry city Mr. Jan Mokos attended as well as several other officials. Ivan Kenez of Ruzomberok interconnected the ceremonial opening with a photo-vernissage showing the photos. The photos were devoted to the 7th Horalfest. An exhibition called “The Best of Tatras” is a selection of his work devoted to the High Tatras . You can visit the exhibition until the end of July 2013. And, of course, there is zero charge ;-)

The Alpine Clubhouse – a meeting place before and after a trek
Recently opened Alpine Clubhouse offers comfortable seats with a cup of tea or coffee or some small snack. You may find here recent weather forecasts, information on mountains or some interesting book on mountains and also touristic and historical maps. You can see them right in the Clubhouse or lend them for a mountain trek. There is even a stand where you can take some interesting traveller catalogues made by the Infoglobe team. In one of them you may find tourist destinations, in other summarized list of ski centers or tips for an active vacation. All animals are welcomed in the Clubhouse so you may go there with you beloved dog with absolutely no problems. Despite refreshments, useful advice and tips or other interesting information you may find here also some useful outdoor stuff, you may buy quality insurance, or some souvenir, at least.

All visitors to the Alpine Clubhouse have free wi-fi access and mountaineers will be pleased that there are a baggage, ski and bike storage capacities or a space specially for drying your clothes . Another great option of many additional services of the Clubhouse is an option of copying on a copy machine.

Events, discussions, and various exhibition
The Alpine Clubhouse also gives a space for interesting presentations on mountains, promotion of outdoor products, discussions about knowledge and experience of mountains, or presentation of art especially art devoted to the Tatras. In the following months many interesting events, workshops and exhibitions will be held there as well as an unusual internet broadcast named as the Oil Lamp. There the guests will talk on importance and etymology of mountain names, alpine tourism and nature protection in TANAP as well as on other topics related to mountains. Many from interesting lectures held in the Alpine Clubhouse will be the 3rd annual Tatranian Photomarathon. It is going to start on the beginning of this fall, on Saturday September 21, 2013.
