SK, Walks in Slovakian Towns
Published: 7.6.2017
Last week, we introduced to you a publication on the most beautiful biking routes in the land below the Tatra Mountains. We continue in our journey to discover Slovakia even today. This time we take on towns.
We happened to get our hand on a new book The Most Beautiful Town Walks published by Dajama. The book introduces Slovakian towns and their historic and cultural values. The purpose of the book is to introduce to the readers a short introduction and a guide how to make a walk in the most beautiful towns in Slovakia.
The Most Interesting Localities in Slovakian Cities
From Jan Lacik's many years of experience, 40 walking routes were designed to optimally link the most interesting places and nooks in 39 Slovakian towns. Every route introduces these towns and their main sights upon which you can then build more deeper experience.
An Excursion
The Most Beautiful Town Walks is not only about simple walking in towns or seeing streets, cafes or stores. Every walk includes many interesting facts or sights along the route. For instance, a walk in Bardejov which is the foremost example of Gothic town in Slovakia takes you to the famous Radnicni square. There you would see the town hall and the St Giles church. However, this walk would also take you to the Bardejov spa, a stone bridge, and a barbican.
Cultural Events
Every trail includes a easty to read map and a calendar of cultural events in the area. This latter might help you deciding when to go to a place. It is up to every reader if he enhances his experience by visiting a festival, concert, an exhibition, or other cultural or sports event. Therefore, it is only up to you if you visit Trnavy during its traditional fair, or see Bratislava while crowning jewels are publicly on display, or even see Kosice when balloon during the popular balloon fiesta glide in the skay over the city.
A Tip for a Walk
The book also includes a walk in Zilina, Martin, Presov or Banksa Bystrica. Therefore, a reader can take a walk in Smokovce, a town in the Tatras, in the spa town of Trencianske Tepilice or in the "green" Trebisov. The author's favorite is Skalica, the locals and visitors call it "a nice place".
Don't hesitate and go and enjoy this great activity we call town tourism. Picturesque and interesting Slovakian towns and townlets are great for walks. So, take the book first and then go on an adventure.
