Lijiang 丽江, a small town in Yunnan 云南 province is known as a land of clear sky, clean air, and beautiful landscape. Lijiang truly meets this. And it has even something more to it. It is a tourist paradise. When you pay 80 yuan admission to enter the city center only annoying vendors prevent you from exploring the area.

Only five kilometers from the district capital of Blansko there is Rajec-Jestrebi, a town of 3.5 thousand by the Svitava River. This town is the northern gateway to the Moravian Karst however also a town where a beautiful chateau is located.

When you say Chiang Mai people mostly think of Chinese lanterns, hundreds of them flying towards the full moon. I spend the better part of winter in this north Thai town. When I planned my journey there I didn’t hope for making it to see the festival. Eventually I made it. And it was the best experience of my life.

Surprisingly we survived the journey from the Leaping Tiger Gorge to Lijiang 丽江. We were in the town for the second time and nobody was looking forward to it. We got enough of it when we were there couple of days ago. Thanks to my ingenuity we were accommodated next to Lashihai 拉市海. But it was far from spectacular. Partially, the reason was in the fact we hadn’t even seen the historical center of Lijiang. The reason, on the other hand, for tourists to come in the city.

The day of our departure from the mountain paradise had come. Luckily, we had whole afternoon at our hands. Therefore, we set off for the last trip. We intended to explore only the nearby area.

Our small trip to waterfall became a nightmare. Ponies that stood across narrow pathway and deep precipice under seemed harmless. Once I got across these obstacles my landlord appeared. With great enthusiasm he instructed us to other waterfalls. As there was only one road heading to our hostel I had to mentally prepare myself to another and another waterfall.

Today we conclude our tour in the Moravian Karst. We visit the Balcarka cave near Ostrov u Macochy village. This cave hides the greatest dripstones. Also, it is the most popular to visit. It unravels its 15 thousand years of history of human settlement. So lets go inside!

The ruin of Ostry Kamen castle stood once as a guardian of the so called Bohemian Road. The ruin is near Bukova, Trnava country. Its history isn’t as deep and as rich as in case of other castles nevertheless it is a popular place for tourists to see. And we went there as well.

Tajikistan is a Central Asian country we haven’t visited so far. The country has borders with Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, China, and Afghanistan. The Tajik territory has seen many empires come and gone, from the Alexander the Great’s empire, Genghis khan’s Mongolia to the last one so far – the Soviet Union.

Today we visit one of the most interesting towns in Liptov. It is interesting for its history, art, architecture, and nature. The town we talk about is Liptovsky Jan. The town is set in the mouth of Janska Valley at the Nizke Tatry.

Everybody knows Pilsner Urquell beer. This bottom-fermented lager was invented in the Kingdom of Bohemia half-way between Prague and Regensburg, Germany. It was founded in the city famous for Skoda locomotives, the tallest church tower in the Czech Republic, and the second largest synagogue in Central Europe. Plzen was declared the European capital of culture for 2015. It truly deserves the title. Lets join us to see what is waiting for us here!

In a small family hostel near the Leaping Tiger Gorge (Hutiao xia虎跳峡) we had some good night sleep. After our arrival we headed straight to see the wild Jinsha River 金沙. At its narrowest point, a tiger allegedly leapt over it. We were completely exhausted by a walk in fresh air. However, we woke up soon next day morning to enjoy raising sun at our terrace.

We returned to our car upon a walk in Liptovsky Mikulas. Before we set off to see other destinations of our trip we took a look into the map. Other two places appeared interesting enough to visit them.

Our walk along the Macocha Nature trail led us to the bottom cable car station which was launched in May 1995. We found ourselves at the altitude of about 361 meters. Our goal was Horni Mustek above the Macocha abyss. Horni Mustek is more than 130 meters higher.
