After while, during our search for tulou 土楼 we went off the tourist-luring village with never ending music. Chinese tourists took pictures of each other wearing traditional and nontraditional clothes rented for horrible money. All of a sudden, everything went quiet around us. We were approaching local hills on a narrow road.

I am already looking to see the oasis. It is surrounded with a wall. Inside is the whole irrigation system – concrete channels. The place has high date palm. More than 120 palm species are in the Emirates, only 20 of them, however, have edible fruits. Their fruits are used often as animal fodder.

Our stay in Yunyongyao云永谣 commenced with a funeral, not particularly traditional way to begin one’s trip. Most of the locals took part in it. Some right in the procession, others just watched from afar. Soon, however, cracking and music ended. Only streets covered with red papers could tell the story.

Dyrhólaey is a peninsula on the south of the country. It is also a natural reservation. There are many rocky cliffs of various shapes. The cliffs are favored by maritime birds such as puffin, duck, or murre. Beaches of black lava sand fill the area between the rocks.

It is hard to record what was happening, there was so much. I am traveling again. This time I am about to enjoy the panorama in the luxurious seven star hotel Emirates Palace. Dubai has a fabulous hotel Burj al Arab and Abu Dhabi wants to have a hotel of fairy tales as well. Dubai is reaching high height, the miracle in Abu Dhabi is massively long.

Alarm at 7 o’clock. Leaving camp an hour later. Originally, we had to stay over night on the Vestman Islands. But it would have taken us much more time. We would use it much better – at the farm of Skálakot.

When we peaked out to the street in the morning, it was truly alive. The digger was demolishing houses, and people were engaged in their work. I sought to protect my breakfast against omnipresent dust. It was clear now what we would do on that day. We had to get as far as possible.

So I could rent a tuk-tuk for whole for great price, and with kind driver. I asked him to ride me to the first temple of the day. Hundreds people in white welcomed me, and thousands incense sticks and numerous flowers as well...

I go on to the district of Bastakiya. This neighborhood preserves the memory of old sea port of Dubai as there are typical Arab houses surrounded with high walls. Hopefully, they will manage to preserve these sights for next generations …

Iceland – Meeting on Another Planet XV

The journey goes according to the plan. We go to the waterfall of Seljalandsfoss near which is the camp. There the drivers were supposed to be accommodated. Upon a short break in the camp, we go further to the harbor. It is raining cats and dogs, and wind blows strongly. Soon we learn that the trip to the island has been postponed due to large waves.
