Austria: Alpentrip XII. - Summary
This summer when we start plan this vacation, respectively holiday trip, I knew that our journey together will be the ideal material to write several articles, as were virtually all of our previous events. But I did not know that our week long holiday originally prolong to three months. Maybe later, I was able to re-realize how much we have seen, visited or encountered. That's worse now, when behind the windows autumn shows its grimmer face, with our way of goodbye. Unfortunately, the kind ability of our of consciousness, that is, forget the bad, again in the time has done his pious work, so I can hardly recall the situations that could withstand some significant criticism, although if this would still leave those moments were very, very little and when they occurred, mostly a misunderstanding or a mere human pettiness. Of course, we can say that it might be in some moments a little better weather, as in the case of panoramic views of the Lago di Garda or the Grossglockner, but these are more cosmetic and not fundamental flaws. Today I find even that many hours wandering around Venice as one of the most entertaining highlights of the all action.
As for the travel itself, crossings and management, also I can´t think anything substantial, apart from confirming the rule that it is always better to go through the path to the south in the first half of July until western neighbours won´t start the holiday. Talk about the need for adequate vigilance driver navigator quality support and knowledge of local conditions and rules of the road I think is unnecessary. For over approximately 2000 km I first had to take advantage of increased attention during their return, when we travelled a few meters and began to harass intrepid kings county roads, which are blacked out windows or company vehicle gives a warm sense of their own invincibility. Although about Italian, Dutch, or whatever drivers we can say anything, I met the idiot in Czech, and I am not any slowpoke.
As for fuel purchases, it is best to schedule refuel so that you were leaving from theCzech Republic, if possible with a full tank, which ideally will last to the Austro-Italian border, where at the Austrian side to take on. Italians have petrol and diesel as much as several tens of cents more expensive. With light feet without a problem then undergo those 500-600 km to return to the economical alpine areas. In Italy, always carry a small to about € 15 toll gates that are virtually all exits of highways, as well as several long tunnels or bridges. Not only drivers certainly appreciate the excellent coffee – one Euro espresso at any of the bigger petrol stations.
As for accommodation, there is no need for advance bookings camps, provided they are still driving on the edge of the summer season. After the 10th respectively 15th July is then better not to risk and in defined areas of some of the places to be sure to book. We were lucky and always one or two places found, which means nothing special security. Most of the camps, whose level was as expected a level better than in Austria, Italy, for a night, a car and two people say around 30-35 Euros. With a bit of effort for a small supplement to offers accommodation in one of the smaller B & B is definitely a good idea to at least one night, slept well, which is especially true for drivers. Investing in comfortable bed you clearly worth more than any traffic disaster caused fatigue that inevitably comes after an otherwise comfortable sleep in a tent.
If I had to choose, on which place visited on our holiday I would like to spend more time, it would probably be on the Lago di Garda, as its surrounding area provide many options of diverse activities. But it can be a little exaggeration to say about all the sites we visited. Trips in Carinthia and picturesque countryside, the town or Northern Italian alpine crossing. Really it is and has been to choose from. Today, after several months, I find our Alpentrip absolutely complex cognitive pathway that lacked even adrenalin, cultural, aesthetic or sports. Length does not drawing passes and almost always the way to somehow stop short space of interest. It is clear that globetrotter, experienced travellers and adventurers will argue that a visit to the North Pole, the Amazon rainforest and the highest mountain in the world, it is after all just a little more excitement. Of course, they have their way, the truth, but it is a little more likely that an ordinary tourist or traveller rather modest passes cross Europe than the other side of the globe.
The aim of all of our 14 posts was not perfectly mapped the corridor of one journey, or overwhelm the reader facts, even though such articles exist. My intention was to bring the feelings, situations and facts with which we were confronted during our vacation, we had to deal with and somehow affect their course. We have described and photographed the most interesting places that we visited, either by yourself or by us is worth exploration. Descriptions of individual sites are usually described as can be realistically remember, without us bothering her any comprehensiveness. Of course, I also missed some places, or forgot, but perhaps only because they weren’t that interesting for me or simply was not time to visit them, so I can only wish those to whom this is going to enjoy your holidays here, like we ours.
And finally I would like to thank my girl friend Terezka, accurate navigator and photographic co author of most of the contributions, who from came the idea to do this vacation together with a selection of the key points of this extremely precious journey...
