CZ: From the Most Western to the Most Eastern Point of the Czech Republic 2

For we like to find new interesting trips we decided to travel from the most western to the most eastern point of the Czech Republic. Both places have something in common: they are hidden and perfectly camouflaged; a tiny pathway leads there and it goes through a hilly terrain. Everyone every time thinks he/she is somewhere else.

Why somewhere else? We have already described it in the first part of this article. Today we talk about the easternmost point.

The easternmost place in the Czech Republic – the village of Bukovec

If you have a car, it is no problem to get as close as it can be. You have to drive from Jablukov to Bukovec border crossing. Right from the border crossing there is a green tourist trail leading uphill, which will take you to the Bukovec nature trail. Half a kilometer later you will find a maintained parking lot where is also “Raseliniste (reservation)”, a tourist signpost, and also the first infoboard of the nature trail leading to the easternmost in the Czech Republic which will welcome you in Bukovec.

There are seven stops on the trail that has half a kilometer in length. It introduce visitors to local nature and describes local nature, landscape and historical landmarks. Also, you will found yourself in the Natural Reservation of Bukovec – Olecky. The nature trail is well-maintained and tastefully equipped. There is a shelter in the middle where you can have a short rest.

On the end of the nature trail, which is in the middle of forest, there is a nice and interesting stone marking the easternmost point of the Czech Republic. Adjacent is a border stone No. I/12 with a memorial plaque that has exact GPS coordinates on it. You can rest in shelters even here for there are two. The small River Oleska creates even more pleasant atmosphere as it flows through here. Also, you may find a signpost with mileage to various places in the world. However, the westernmost point of our republic is missing here.

We consider this trip as one of the most interesting and we recommend it also to other adventure takers. Both places are located in the middle of pure nature, picturesque landscape and hilly terrain. Moreover, you will feel peaceful and calm atmosphere there.

A small protected area where are rare species of animals and plants is located near the town of Hranice and around the Three-State area of Bohemia, Bavaria and Saxony. The Iron Curtain and inaccessibility of places on the borderline paradoxically caused development of protected species. The whole locality is very small however; it has its own unique features such as a national park.
