Finland: We Taste Diary Products

The Finnish cuisine is said to be a simple, fresh, used locally, and the Finns are considered masters of combinations. Today's episode is dedicated to nutrients - dairy products, which together with vegetables, fish and dark bread is one of the basic building blocks of the Finnish diet.

Among the phenomena of Finnish cuisine are diary products and they are consumed heavily. A Finns is to indulge the taste for any occasion.

Milk? Only fresh.

On the shelves in shops you will find classic three kinds of milk . But do not expect a boxes with longevity lasting several months. The Finns enjoy their fresh milk , which are even cheaper than durable milk and very tasty.

Beside milk has its place on the shelves also piima, i.e. sour milk similar to the Czech kefir or zakys. You could be totally confused when you get in front of a cooling shelf with creams. Classic cream bears the name surprisingly cream . If you look for cream try to find it as kerma , sour cream is called kermaviili . p>

Yogurt? Only in a box.

In Finland you can taste many other known and unknown dairy products. Very popular are yogurts, and they are so popular that they are sold mostly in boxes like the milk. A wide selection of yogurts, flavored variants prevail, however, among them cringe few natural white yoghurt. Like yogurt, are popular in Finland and curds. Honest full-fat cottage cheese but you in these parts searched in vain. In Finland, are all non fat diary products very trendy nowadays.

Another from dairy favorites is viili . Viili is a popular dairy product that has its specific consistency that does not have an equivalent in the Czech Republic. The shape and taste resembles something between a pudding and gelatin and the fair mixing his consistency turns almost slime. The first taste of this specialty flavored variants recommend especially where taste trumps consistency.

Cheeses soft and featurless

At their cheeses, as well as all Finnish, Finns are very proud. The most popular and most typical in Finland is Oltermanni cheese . Those who love old and smelly cheeses will after tasting the local specialties probably be disappointed, as the taste and smell is very sluggish.

Another characteristic of Finland cheese is Leippajuusto , a soft fresh cheese in a white cakes with dark spots. Taste if it is cold, strange grinds his teeth. Heated in the oven or on the grill and the possible addition of spices, however, becomes very tasty. The Finns, however, prefer the cold version and serve it accompanied by mulberry jams. Fruits and cloudberry in Finland are widespread and very used. They look like a pale orange raspberries have a bitter taste and are rich in vitamin C .
