Lower Austria is exceptional for its great infrastructure, amazing services, and nature and mountains where you can make countless trips to. Mountains and forests are great in summer. You can hide hear from the heat and enjoy adventure and fun. We selcted six tips for trips ensuring great experiences typical for the region of Lower Austria.

Playful Tourism Going from Cabin to Cabin

Who wouldn't like to relax with some beverage sitting on a mountain cabin terrace and enjoying the vista. Now this is tourism. In Lower Austria, they prepared unusual cabin game. It is fun and you can evne win a trip. You can also collect stamps for your tourist passport when hiking in the region. 21 mountain cabins are participating in this game. You need to visit three of them, get the stamp and join the competition. Alternatively, you can simply enjoy amazing nature, well-marked tourist trails, and specialties they offer at these cabins.

The Danubian bike trail is the most popular bike trail in Austria and you can start off in  Bratislava. The historic region of Wachau is what you enter once you get in Austria. And you enjoy its adventurous features. There are historic chateaux, castles, many inns, great wine – and you simply have to experience it at least once. The Danubian bike trail is actually one of the most popular and most beautiful bike trails in Europe. There are many stops of cultural significance. Moreover, there are Danubian beaches descending to shallow water. It is great to cool oneself down there during hot summer days.

The Vienna's Alpine Arch tourist tarail is full of amazing vistas. Good marking ensures that you get almost anywhere and that you will enjoy the beauty of the Vienna Alps even on short routes. The Vienna's Alpine Arch is 300 kilometers long tourist trail crossing the Vienna Alps. There are 19 sections and 21 regional tourist trails . Along the way, there are amazing hills, castles and fortified churches in the Bucklige Welt mountain range. In the region of Schwaigenland, there are mountain meadows within the proximity of the mountains of Rax and Schneeberg (2 076 m). There you can try some good uphill hike. The Gutenstein Alps charm visitors with their karst plains of the Hohe Wand mountain range, and Piestingta valley.

Weinviertel region brings completely different experience.There is the 153 kilometers long Saint Jacob's Trail. It starts off at Drasenhofen town and ends in Krems an der Donau. The trail goes across mild hills. Amazing and serene nature is why people should take this trail. Pilgrims here get lost in their thoughts. The trail gets you to  Poysdorf, the vineyard capital of Austria, then you'll see Buschberg and Michelberg. In the latter, you can enjoy amazing vista over fertile vineyards.

Bikers and gastro-enthusiasts can enjoy the best the Wienerwald region has to offer - biking in forests, vast vineyards, and concluding a day with the best of wines. Amateurs as well as experiences bikers and mountain bikers will enjoy great bike trails.

Ötscher mountain has been the flagship of Lower Austria. Any mountain enthusiast will enjoy many of tourist attractions around this mountain. Ötscher-Tormäuer reserve will amaze tourists from all around the world. You can see a karst cave with some prehistoric rocks or interesting limestone formations. Ötscher is 1893 meters high which makes it the highest mountain in Mostviertel region. Try Rauha Kamm trail. It is one of the most difficult climbs you can find in Lower Austria. Below Ötscher, there is  Ötschergräben gorge dubbed the „ Austrian Grand Canyon“. There are many tours which can give you a pleasure of amazing discoveries – from the Gemeindealpe mountain range to Lassingfall waterfall. Perhaps try Ötscherlift, a very comfy cable car. There is binocluar at its terminus. Through it you can enjoy the panorama over the iron Ötscher bear.
