Autumn is already in Lower Austria. The autumn is linked with wine. There are over 100 Lower Austrian towns preparing celebrations.

The main regions where the wine celebrations take place are Wachau, Kremstal, Kamptal, Traisental, Wagram, Weinviertel, Thermenregion and Carnuntum. These are the places to visit if you want to experience the most beautiful celebrations in the area.

Wine Autumn as the locals call it combines what people love the best about this season – wine, old traditions, gastronomy, or colorful autumn nature. Often, there are many new things introduced.

Celebrations in wine streets lure you to places where Lower Austrian wine is produced. Lately, tourism and bike tours across vineyards have been popular among tourists. These types of activities combine experiencing the land with some physical activity. You can observe the beautiful landscape where wine grows also on Spitzer Weinwanderweg trail. The trail goes across the most famouy vineyards and leads you to the beautiful vistas over Wachau.

Over 1000 various events – some are large, some small, some for amily, and some grandiose. The offer of wine is vast and the same applies for cuisine related to wine consumption. This lures hedonists to meet here in good mood with traditional Lower-Austrian music.

There are over 1100 wine streets in Lower Austria also known as "villages without chimneys", as folks call them. A wine street is a street with wine cellars and prss shops. The oldest wine cellar is 1,6 km long in Haders village, Pulkautal region. Another beautiful wine streets is in region of Weinviertel, more concrete in Wildendürnbach town. The oldest cellars were built in the 17th century.

In case you like bikes, we recommend to pay a visit to the town of Retz. You will be surrounded by the historical Verderberhaus complex. It is in Venetian renaissance style which takes you back to the old times. The underground is the main attraction of this little town for you can find there "cellar of experiences" which has 21 kilometers of corridors 30 meters under ground. This makes it the largest wine cellar in central Europe!

There is an oportunity to learn about wine in modern fashion by visiting Loisium a wine theme park. They introduce you to the grape juice in a creative way by using lighting and sound effects, CGI, and exhibits. Winzer Krems, an association of wine makers (its residence is in Sandgrube 13, Krems an der Donau) presents their krem wine. Cellar chateau in Dürnstein is one of the most beautiful places of the Wachau wine.
