New Caledonia, Amédée – Beaches, Diving, Tahitian Dance
From Noumea you can easily get to Amédée in the organized tour. It's organized by the Mary D agency and ships are being reported there almost every day. The island is still beautiful, but if you happen to be bad weather (like me), you can exchange your ticket and go to the island the next day.
I'm going to the island at 9am. I can also look at the captain's cabin, which I do not refuse and amaze at the many buttons and lights. After half an hour, the ship docks at the pier and various activities are waiting for us. Whoever wants to snorkel. You can rent the equipment at the souvenir shop. Whoever wants a bit of sport and a true sight, he heads up the 247 steps of the local lighthouse and has the surrounding lagoon on his palm. Anyone who wants to relax, just rolls on the beach. Whoever wants to learn to climb the coconut palm, tune sarong or master the basics of Tahitian dances, watches the times of individual demonstrations can try these activities.
Enjoy a look at Tahitian dance, the performance of beautiful Kaleon girls in Tahitian costumes. The erotic subtone that these dances have is completely natural to the Polynesians, although Europeans can be a bit overwhelming. Even missionaries have officially banned dancing in public from 1819 until the 1950s. Lots of people have already said that European missionaries have gradually succeeded in transforming Tahitian culture instead of changing the colorful and fragrant Tahiti.
After a dance performance, I embark on a cruise ship with a glass bottom. Corals, fish and turtles are so under my hand. There is also a guide on the ship with us who comments on what we are seeing. I can tell that there are 3000 species of fish in Kaleon's waters, a respectable figure when we consider that France has only about 400 and Polynesia 600.
On the island of Amédée you will surely meet the deadly poisonous coral snake. You will know it in terms of orange to red color with black stripes throughout its length. You do not have to worry about him. If you do not irritate him, he will not even notice you.
Amédée Island is a great choice if you want to make a day trip from Nouméa to any surrounding island. For this experience, however, you have to go deeper into the pocket - an adult will come to this trip for more than 3,000 CZK.
