Spain, Salou – PortAventura World I

There are many large and small theme parks scattered across Europe. We spent last three weeks at Europa-Park situated on the German-French borderline. Today we move 1200 in the southwest direction and land in Catalonia, Spain.

The name o the article already suggests that the destination for today is PortAventura. This park was mention in our article couple of weeks back. Today we take a closer look at it.

PortAventura is divided into six sections. Unlike Europa-Park the inspiration was drawn from lands more distant than just Europe. However, there is a representation of the Mediterranean region. Others are Polynesia, China, Mexico, or the Wild West. There is also a section dedicated only to kids called SesamoAventura. The park covers an area of 120 hectares.

PortAventura is praised for its homely atmosphere even though over 4 million visitors every year. The park holds numerous attractions and rides.

”Crazy” rides enthusiast are going to enjoy the place. Hurakan Condor is just the thing. Beware, people who get easily sick on stomach shouldn’t even see it. You take a seat and your carriage rides up to 100 meters above the ground. Up on the top the seat leans bit forward. Enjoy the beautiful landscape around because all of a sudden your seat happens to be falling down 86 meters in the speed of 115 km/h. Only thinking about this surely gives you goose bumps.

Yet it takes a while before you recuperate and find yourselves on a quest for another thrilling ride. If so, go to the Chinese section and ride Dragon Khan.

Dragon Khan is a reollercoaster that seems to be rather some sort of random paper drawing. The track is 1,2 kilometers long and the carriage rides at the speed 105 km/h. The time of a ride is 2 minutes. In such a speed, you'll feel the force of 4G - four times more than Earth's gravity. There are eight inversions on the track. They will truly spin you round and round.

We are going to visit this amusement park again also next week.

LEGOLAND Günzburg is located in Germany between Munich and Stuttgart. It cover the area of 17,6 hectares. It is about 470 kilometers away from Prague which, on a freeway, takes about 4-5 hours of driving. We did not regret long drive because being in Legoland was like being in another world.
